Harry Potter
Apr. 9th, 2009 06:09 pmSo... I read the first... 3? 4? something like that - Harry Potter books back in roughly '01 - no, I lie, it was second year of college, so maybe 01/02 ish. I read Internets versions - so there were scenes missing, and it wasn't like I really cared that much, it was just I wanted to have some idea what all was going on. I also decided that while some friends were writing fanfic, I now had enough background info I could leave reading the series until ALL the books were out, 'cause I just did not want to go there.
When Deathly Hollows came out, I recall Benjamin and I were going through the airport - like the day of release. We ducked into one of the bookshops along the concourse (because ye gods, you couldn't move without tripping over another stand of the books for sale), and read the epilogue, 'cause dammit, it was going to get spoiled one way or another, and this was something... proactive, I think? Anyways, it left me with warm fuzzies.
This Christmas, I asked for the series as a gift, 'cause I like books, and collect them like trading cards. January, I broke my leg, and March, I went back to work.
March 25th, I brought The Philosopher's Stone with me into work. Today, I finished the series.
Good books. Worth the buy. It's funny; I liked the last 2 best, I think. In my defense, it took as long to read as it did because I was trying to restrict my reading to work, and only at work (and on the bus to and from). Can't figure who my favorite characters are, but I dig it.
Yeah. Not the world's most information-laden post, but I just wanted to say.
Now, I just want my favorite HP fanfic to be completed - but at least I'm going to have a blast re-reading that with the full background info!!
