Just a quick life update.

So..... ice is dangerous. Ice is slippery.

Ice can lead to a Norcumi with a broken leg.

It really. Really. Fucking. Sucks. Spent much of yesterday in the emergency room after falling on the ice in an attempt to catch the bus - would have been successful, but instead my feet went one way, I went another, there was an ungodly snap, and then I was swearing a lot. Right lower leg is in a split and needs to remain elevated - meaning I'm on my back and in pain not so much from the leg I can't move much as from my headache (prolly due to the vicodine?) and the backache from being in 1 position all. fucking. day. long. At least (said seriously, not sarcastic) Quindar is at work for most of the day, so when I finally need to migrate upstairs to use the bathroom I can scream, whimper, and curse without feeling guilty about it.

Doc appointment tomorrow to learn when I can get surgery and pins put in so hopefully not so much with the annoying painful wait-for-the-swelling-to-go-down splint. The swelling is obviously going down, because when I move around now, there's vastly painful movement from within the splint.

At least The Valkyria Chronicles are turning out to be a good purchase.

Holy shit! And I thought I could complain because I ripped the knee of my pants open.

Let me know if there's anything I can do in terms of bringing you DVDs or snacks or things to keep you entertained during your convalescence.

oh god. *hug*

Having broken my leg three separate times in a span of five years, I can sympathize- although it happened at an age where I didn't need pins. -_- I can't imagine what that must be like.

Is there anything I can do to help distract or entertain you?
*stands on her head and waves her feet in the air* is...is that at all helpful?

I have no idea what the pins are going to be like. That's the part that squicks me out, honestly. I'm trying to remind myself it'll make going thru metal detectors fun, but I'm not settled yet. ;)

Yes. Yes it is. ::grins:: Thankies!

The pins are only going to be maybe 2 to 3 mm thick and about 10 to 15 mm long. And most likely made of steel or titanium. And depending on how bad the break is, they might put in a plate too.

My mom has seen the type of pins they would use and points out they would be on the small side so they wouldn't cause even more damage.

Yikes! Ow ow ow ow ow. Is it a bad break, or just a clean snap? Hope it's the latter, those heal better, I've heard.

Hope you feel better!

Well, it's bad in that I did damage to all the things down there that I could (fibula, tibia, and the tendon). Beyond that, they haven't said. The surgery I'm scheduled for looks to be totally standard procedure, so.... ::shrugs::

thanks!
