If anyone's bored at odd times of the day (mainly around 5 am ish EST), I'll be spending prolly at least the next week farming on Khaz Modan. Prolly the STV area, and maaaaaybe another attempt at soloing Deadmines (strangely enough, it's never a matter of level that keeps me from finishing it, it's a matter of time. DM is at least an hour with a 60, I think, and a 35ish is at least an hour and a half, and gah, I have better uses for time sinks).

Also, if anyone wants me to post a lecture on "How to Farm as Alliance," then please comment. I'm considering doing it anyways, gods help me.

So, if your objective is actually to kill everything in Deadmines, yeah. As a 60 you ought to just be able to run past most of the mobs, though, and get to VanCleef. (You have to kill a miniboss or two to make a door open, but it still shouldn't require killing everyone ...)

Fair point! The thing is, this is my farmer, so the point IS to kill everything and take as much Stuff as possible. That's about the only reason I ever go into a dungeon - I hate the damn things with a passion, so it's a matter of "ok, I'm 7+ levels above the quests graying out, and I have some spare time on my hands, I might as well clear out the @!#$%^ log."

Mind, 70 odd precent of the time I'm almost violently for soloing, too.

Still. Blast it. Now I'm seriously considering just getting that done. In all seriousness, thanks for the tip! (I don't think things through thoroughly very often)

The question is what do you want to farm for. If money, Deadmines is not worth the trouble.

Money, meaning the actual dropped copper and silver? Oh, absolutely, that's a pretty darn stupid way of farming. Nah, my main thing is ore and leather - the leather would be farmed in no dungeon I can - Hoom, maybe Wailing Caverns, but I really don't care enough - think of, and the ore is decent. If nothing else, you're even almost guaranteed a node of silver, and that stuff goes for at least a gold per ore. So DM farming is for ore, cloth, and greens (disenchanting if nothing else), in that order. I'm not too particular how I farm my money - it all comes down to playing the AH like a cheap fiddle, honestly.

What class 60 are you trying to farm VC with?

Because anything with any kind of AoE shouldn't be taking an hour.

Instance mobs aren't like world mobs, they never de-aggro unless you die, zone, or employ some kind of escape like vanish or feign death. Just run around until you've accumulated a fair sized entourage, and then burn them down. Loot, then move on to the next room.

Also, if you're going to be in VC anyway, sell the run. Charge 5-10g for somebody making a 19 twink to join the run just as you kill VC, let them loot the Defias chestpiece, and collect your pay.

Although, if the objective is pure money making rather than looking for specific drops, you're probably better off just questing in Outland, sucky though the whole place is, gold falls like rain on the other side of the portal.

Hit 70, and all the dailies open up, plus much better compensation for any quests you didn't finish while leveling.

::grins sheepishly:: I'm... not? I'm farming deadmines with a 35 ish hunter? And even then it's only when I'm bored and cranky and want to - once again - try to get said 35 to complete the "kill Van Cleef" quest, 'cause otherwise it's much more profitable to just romp around STV and mine iron and solid stone that goes for a good 6, 7 gold a stack.

Or honestly, my favorite area of Duskwood with all the chests zomg.

The only outlands worthy alt I have is a warrior, which of course doesn't help much in the AoE, tho I like the idea.

Farming - nah, I'm just after stuff to sell at the AH. And accomplish quests because I'm odd like that. And my farmer still needs to kill the bastard. That's all! :)

(... i'll admit it.... 70 intimidates me. and i'm not so sure how much i actually like outlands content...... I'm guessing a lot of that comes from soloing and liking my quest log to be yellow at most. That's a LOT harder in BC content than Old World stuff. Hellfire Peninsula and I just don't get along at ALL.)

Whirlwind = warrior AoE. For instance, as a 70 warrior I used to know once said, "watch me solo RFC in one pull."

Ironically, I canceled my account of two years last week because (among other reasons) there's nothing to do at 70 but solo farm, and you can't get a group for anything.

So yeah, I can't really recommend any BC content as being really that cool. YMYV, of course.

Irony, you see, royally sucks like that. Having posted this, I opted to get a wee bit of sleep this morning instead. ::sighs and grins sheepishly:: I was link happy for a reason: I'm Sairin on there. On now until 7, for what that's worth.

Well, whenever I can manage to catch you on your warrior (and off Alt-itis) Sozur is still parked in Hellfire Pen. Awaiting more epic questing alongside the greatest rogue-tank-mine-bot to ever exist. :D
