norcumiIt's that time of year again, where the Yuletide folks come out with lovely lovely wonderful stuff for you to read.
My rec list is long this year. XD
In no particular order:
Last Nickel in the Nation Sack: Orpheus and Eurydice in the '20s, with vodou and maybe historical Roaring 20s type (....I still need to look it up, and I'm gleefully waiting for the opportunity)
"Worked okay so far?": Adult Calvin and Hobbes. With Bacon. Good stuff, without angst.
The Good Old Days: WoW. Forsaken meets Panda. XD
From the Sacrificial Altar of the Concubine of Isis: A short and fun bit from The Mummy movies (which I have a huge, secret weakness for - glorious wonderful camp!). Very much tongue in cheek and self aware like the first movie.
The Hard Sell: WoW. Goblin meets Panda! With a holiday flavor!
It's a love story for the new age: Gargoyles!!!!! Xanatos and Fox: how it might have been. Spoilers in case someone doesn't know what's what.
Mutating the Labyrinth: Sci-fi Ariadne meeting Theseus, and the slaying of the minotaur.
Action Hero Figures and Ham Sandwiches: Spiderman and Flash Thompson - not a pairing I could see before. Just lovely. There was another mind-blowingly good slashy pairing fic, but that one seems to have gone private or something, which is sad.
mist behind and light before: sci-fic Cinderella, with gender role re-imaging and some lovely characterization.
Magic and Mothers: If Mercedes Lackey had written Cinderella like Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice, it might be like this.
