Apr. 1st, 2008 05:04 pmProblem: getting home - or at least back to CMU - after therapy on Wednesdays.
Why: Boulevard of the Allies has shut down for months of repairs, meaning I need to take 376 West at rush hour, when everyone trying to get to Oakland is also being rerouted along 376 (I think it's west - maybe? Don't care enough to check. If it's otherwise, sorry 'bout that).
Obvious Solution: go through downtown until I can get onto Forbes, and take that back to CMU.
Potential new problem: Forbes during rush hour SUCKS. It's slow, and lots of buses and cranky drivers.
Actual New Problem: navigating downtown Pittsburgh. During rush hour. When I don't know how the hells to get to Forbes.
Actual solution!!!!!: come out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel, keep going straight, PAST the left turnoff towards 376. Keep going straight as if one wasn't sure what one's doing and doesn't trust any of the exits. When you spot a sign for Bigelow (Or was it Baum? Eh, whichever one it was/is) Boulevard, FOLLOW that! You'll swing around downtown, finally going past the entrance to Bloomfield on a fast, fairly empty thoroughfare, which eventually leads to Craig Street. Choose favored method to CMU proper at this point. Not only does it work, my GODS it's fast!
I DID IT!!!!!!!! ::does a very happy hamster dance::
(I'm aware this is probably incomprehensible to local folks, and utterly incomprehensible to non-Pittsburgh types, but that's ok. I just need to boast a little and take notes so I remember. ;) Pardon while I continue doing so.)
