So... Every November I look around, wince, and try to ignore all these people doing that Writing Thing.

I also need to point out that the first two weeks of this month are absolutely insane for me schedule wise.

And yet.

Just for giggles, any time this month, as many times as you'd like, feel free to comment on this post and poke me. Provide a prompt if the whim hits you. Name a pairing. Demand pr0n. Ask for a silly giggly little thing. Wonder out loud what the hell ever happened to that thing I was talking about that one time*.

I'll try to write something for/about/maybe vaguely in the neighborhood of your prompt, and we'll see what happens. I might not get to anything, it might be months before I look at it, or I might grow some fortitude and do a word count that makes me happy at the end of the month. I dunno.

I need to push myself more. And maybe this will do something about that. And if not, maybe it will amuse some of you.

* Being specific helps.

The thing! With the guy!

*snicker* *ahem* The one with the king and the advisor who turned out to be one of the monsters, sending him away to survive. :) That was cool.

::primly:: And this is why I had the asterisk. ;)

Swiffy! Link for my own convenience (so it's all in one place), and we'll see if the ideas for The Night of Slaughter write up from Trimere's side or What Happens Next go further (... I've no idea!). Oooo, or the first one as tied in with What Happens Immediately Thereafter, also from Trimere's side.

I'm with you on NaNo... I think it's at a ridiculous time of year. Folks who are still in school are ramping up for exams. People working are ramping up for the holiday season, either because they work in retail and are getting shifted to holiday shopping schedules, or because they're trying to get things done around all the vacation time being taken.

And then there's a giant holiday at the end, one associated with traveling.

And people want to arrange a "write 5 pages a day" marathon at this point? *shaking head*

Anyway, I challenge you to come up with a set of ORIGINAL characters who also are an adventuring party. You don't need to do anything with them, but make some up and figure out their relationships and backgrounds. >.>

..... oh botheration. Thanksgiving is the -

Ya know, I had actually managed to not look that far down my calendar. What were people thinking when they picked November for NaNo?

And you have interesting springboards. I'm liking this! My biggest problem right now is not defaulting to the WoW standard of 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 dps. I think it's been too long since I puttered around with basic Dungeons and Dragons archtypes; this playground is fun!

And prompt noted; all original stuff here. :)

Well, traditional party compositions involved layers: the layer closest to the enemy were the melee fighters (warriors and thieves and such). The middle layer was usually the priest (who in those days wore heavy armor and could really hurt people with a mace). And the back layers were the spindly wizards. So while there wasn't a tank/healer/dps composition, there was a sense of "the people in the front, facing the enemy, are the ones who fight best in-close." Maybe you can take that concept and run with it, or go completely bizarre: an entire party of rogues that work stealthed, pop out of shadows like ninjas, and take everything down at once... or die, or run away. Or an entire party of fighters whose big thing is 'we outlast everyone'. Etc. :)

Haha, yeah, NaNo is at an ~insane~ time of year. Hey, next year if you want to do an early NaNo, like in June or July or something, lemme know and I'll see if I can join you. :D

Also, for party makeup, I have D&D and RPG experience to call on. XD That is, damage-soaks up front, magic and ranged weapons in the back. If I can only pick one type for my constant or near-constant character, I usually beef up my HP and AC, because getting hit in a surprise ambush suuuucks, and my usual strategy is 'hit things till they stop moving' XD;;

And for a prompt.... hmmmmmm. If the FFVII fandom is still poking you at all, something with Vincent and his Demons. (Feel free to ignore Dirge of Cerebrus -_- I quite liked the original demon designs anyway) Possibly the reason Vince is so quiet is because he has a peanut gallery in his head all the time and has trained himself to not respond to anyone, so that he won't randomly reply to someone that isn't there? :D Or what Vince's interactins with Cid/Cloud/Yuffie look like from a demon's POV, or something. Completely optional, and if Vincent isn't talking to you, basically Anything With Zack will make me happy, and tentacles are always a bonus.

....that... is strangely tempting. I'd prolly have to actually sit down and get some idea of the real rules for NaNo then, wouldn't I? ^_^;

"hit things till they stop moving" is the best strategy - admittedly I presume that includes "and then hit them a little more to make sure the bastards aren't faking", but I'm also paranoid. ;)

Vincent, possibly Zack, try for tentacles. ::salutes:: We'll see what we can do! XD

XD I just go by 1000 words = 1 picturepage, and aim for 50 pages. Mind you, if I get 20 pages done I'm absolutely over the moon. :P

Or to make sure they're not just undead, you could always set them on fire :D

Eee! ♥!
