So I've got this thing with Ellinn and Kius (er, down near the bottom of the entry). And I've only got snippets that might fit in a thematic whole, but I don't have that; I just have snippets and one shots with the same characters.

I suck at putting together larger story arcs. So, while I have a few spare minutes, I'm a'gonna ramble here and see what all comes out (also really really tired, thus in a rambly mood). If you are concerned with spoilers, there will be lots in this post. If you are concerned with consistency, or me actually producing writing, all of the following is really up in the air right now. This is also a bit of an experiment for me, to see if I can do a rough outline (....of sorts) of a story/combination of short stories.

Primary elements first: major protagonists: Ellinn, nelfy mage former undermaid from a small nelf community in Feralas, and Kius, worgen hunter who was a scribe in a family of dog breeders before Gilneas went to hell in a handbasket. She's sheltered, not really into the whole adventuring thing, but feels duty bound to help her people with the problems that are facing them in a post-Cataclysm world, and eventually that should extend out to the Alliance as a whole, since she's a sweet, softhearted girl. He's gruff, more used to the city (and NOT this backwards approach many Stormwind folks have) but comfortable enough out in the wild, and oh yeah, he's also trying to get his head around being fuzzy and maybe having gone on a murderous rampage or two.

Antagonist: currently none, though there should be someone (some group?). Something from the game would be useful, and while I'm inclined to point the finger at the Cult of Twilight, they do come across like a bad joke/villain parody in game, and are... monumentally incompetent. I am, however, disinclined to create a new group of opposition. Should not go with someone personally tied to either of our heroes, since that makes it a bit too soap operatic, and I think Ellinn is an only child and everyone in Kius' life is gone by now. These elements make someone personally tied to them even worse.

Theme: Dogs. Obedience training commands should actually make up the major titles. Possible arc titles that tempt me but don't quite seem there: Wolf Pack (... too obvious, too wild, indicates more than 2 major players, doesn't jive with the tame elements of the titles); Glory Hounds (... cute, but too ironic? Even if they end up doing Great Things not because they are chasing after fame and fortune, but because it's the right thing to do, it still... implies things)

Major story points (only in approximate order):
* Shake Hands: The Meeting, in which assumptions are made and folks learn things, getting into some background
* Sit: Kius, minorly injured after getting a new pet (so as to make the opportunity to poke fun at his pet naming scheme), and Ellinn showing up to take care of him (he is, legitimately, located out of Darnassus at the time). He also teaches her to fish. She tries to teach him to cook. That one doesn't take.
* Stay: Ellinn dealing with former employer who's in town, showing contrast in the upper vs lower class of nelf society, need to remember emphasis on status of Sentinels, also the fact that she just sits in Darnassus and levels on cooking and fishing dailies (what that actually translates to in out of game terms)
* Growl: Kius is in Stormwind, getting an ikkle bit drunk and not liking the vibes in a pro-SW, anti-Gilnean crowd at the bar. Several local thugs are hassling the nelfy wench serving them beer, and he interrupts several lewd jokes by slamming his axe blade into their table. He's very aware he's being stupid, but hell, he's a little maudlin anyways. Also desperately looking for the excuse to use the line "I'd love to try out her Darnassian Bleu!" - I am a bad, bad Norcumi.
* Attack: applying Sozur's theory; while out in Ashenvale and feeling restless/useless, Ellinn gets swept up in a Warsong Gulch battle - wonder of wonders, the alliance wins. Snapshots of the battle, horror at the end result, but... she's... kinda doing ok at it. Will need to pull out lots of Frost Mage spells, possibly poke Soz for advice on how a mid level mage does PvP again to get a feel for what should happen. Her making the decision to dive into battle again.

This is where things start getting vague and I'm really feeling that I have a good first half, or maybe third, of an arc but it just goes off a cliff. Points I want to hit after there, but unsure of whatall to do:

* Down: Kius is reaching an anniversary. Maybe parents' marriage day, and the family always celebrated it, maybe the day he thinks they all died, really going into his background (ragged ears, sister, last days of Gilneas)
* Heel: In a battleground, Kius because he happens to be nearby, Ellinn because she's now searching them out (by this point she's still somewhat klutzy, but can go into... Ah! PvP mode! Duh, makes sense, and certainly more sense than "soldier mode" - in which she's competent, and kicks some butt when it comes to the spell slinging... not so much the hand to hand). They run into each other, big battle with the Horde, and something a little sexually charged but not getting all the way obviously.
* Back Up: Ok this is where an antagonist is needed so badly it hurts - Ellinn running off because she's uncomfortable with the changes in her since they last met, despite them sending letters, and him being uncomfortable since his past has recently been eating away at him, ISN'T ENOUGH. Need to have threads throughout the other stories with... yeah, something like the Cult of Twilight might be useful, so they aren't solely targeted but they're the ones we're looking at. Someone or group trying to break down the Alliance and/or Horde.
* Drop It: angst, running away
* Leave It: more angst from the other side
* Speak: breaking the silence (please not something forced "oh hai we're in the same battle on the same field let me Save You" type of thing)
* Give: token sharing, need to DO SOMETHING with an antagonist
* Roll Over: starting the forgiveness process
* Fetch: meeting up again
* Take It: tokens, possibly admission of Interest, leading to
* Kennel: smut.
* Stand: ok, that was lovely smut but there's someone out there We Need To Handle
* Steady: Teh Battle
* Roll Over (already used that, grah. No idea what to call this): dénouement

....yeaaaaah, I'm kinda skipping some details on that latter half. Still. This is more solid than what I usually go on, which is "Hey I have a scene/saying that I can do some writing around!" Maybe working on it later will produce something useful. Any commentary is welcomed.

Play Dead? *snicker*

Of course I hope you know I'm more than willing to read, beta, and/or squee over anything you produce involving those two. :3

Ooo, I like that! And fits the potential story... Thank you!

And thanks for the read/beta/squee possibilities - I do appreciate it (and will probably take you up on it ;) )!
