eee...is Duskwood an RP server? Not that it's an excuse to be skeezy, but I've almost never had to deal with this kind of thing on Spirestone, where I guess people just talk less to strangers.

I'd like to say "just ignore it," but since I probably would feel moved to snark at someone who was distracting me with crap like that...go with your instincts.
