Experiment failure

norcumi2010 is kicking my ass in many, many ways. I haven't broken my leg again, but that's the major highlight.
In the meantime, back on topic!
I tried arting earlier.
It... sucks. A lot. I should stick to my stick figures for awhile. Hmm. Might try that later.
ANYWAYS. What I tried to do? It's... a little strange. You see, as with much in my life, it has a backstory. Last Christmas, Dogmatix did a lovely kind thing and sent me Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. I kept getting lost trying to follow the backstory to her art and fic, and thus she decided to go with the most expedient means to get me caught up to speed. It took a hell of a lot of referencing to Wikipedia to understand, but I liked it.
This Christmas, I got a copy of FF7 itself.
-_-; This game is on crack? I mean, DAMN, whatta story*, but some of the mini games it expects me to participate in are deranged. I'm 10 or so hours in, on the first disc, and while occasionally frustrated I'm rather amused by the whole affair.
Now, in between these two events, I also heard the most amusing song on the radio. Gives You Hell by All American Rejects (lyrics here). The video is on crack, and I'm ignoring it, but watch it if it amuses you. The funny thing is, the first time I heard it, I was in the car, and giggling manically, and the first thought that crossed my mind baffled me, because it was "DAMN, this is totally Reno!"
Given I've seen maybe a half hour of footage of the dude, and not recently of hearing that song, it says something about the characterization involved.
I heard the song again today, and I decided what the hey, I'd sit down and actually try drawing some of the chibi-esque images in my head, of him sticking his tongue out at Rude with Rufus lookin' grumpy/baffled in the background, or taunting Tifa and Cloud as they work in a bar, or just being a doofball - shown on several tv screens surrounding Cloud or something, making faces in ginormous panoramic glory.
It, ah, didn't exactly work out. If nothing else, I can't draw hair worth a damn. Or shoulders. Or clothes. Or much anything, really, but a part of me keeps squeaking at me to try. I might say the hell with it, and draw Warcraft stick figures later just 'cause, but....
In the meantime, while I am too embarrassed to show the results, I did want to inflict the concept on folks.
Just for the hell of it. :3
* Also, comments WILL be screened not because I'm pissy, but because I don't want any spoilers, and "spoilers" has a funny definition around here, and since it's an open post I'm being crazy. Yes, yes, I know the immediate response: "But you just said you read what Wikipedia said happened? So what's the beef?" The beef is that I don't want specifics, OR to know when or how or whatever anything falls into place. No offense, I'm just a wee bit rabid about it.
