I actually really, really like that. X D Esp. Draco raised by Sirius. That's gotta be...fun. Probably as fun as my Naruto-verse where Gaara is being raised by Jiraiya from age 13 and after...
(I'm a sucker for well-done AUs, which is why I liked Stealing Harry and that other one that I can't think of the title right now. And all the other 'verses that have done equally crazy "what-if" premises.)
Though, a couple questions, 'cause the pronoun usage in that passage was confusing:
"she just blasts literally everything she has at the Dark Lord, killing her by using her life force to power some serious magic, maybe vaporizing her wand."
So...Lily dies? And then when Snape shows up, he sees the body? What happens to it- does he take her to bury, because otherwise, why would she be presumed missing if there was a body?
And I'm then assuming that everyone is assuming that Lily took Harry to raise in secret. (Or does Dumbledore know the truth of what happened from Snape?) Which still leaves me to wonder why Snape would leave Harry with his rather conspicuous given name.
I also like the fact that you just give Harry as "quiet and strange," because you could describe first-year canon Harry the same way, I think. I just can't decide if this particular AU would be more fun if it turns out that Snape raised him on the truth- because there was no other way to really prepare the child and keep him safe for if Voldemort returned- or raised him under false pretenses and Harry is spending his first few years at Hogwarts slowly figuring out the Truth. Or some place in between those two positions.
Bravissimo on it, regardless, and thank you for letting this particular plot bunny out to nibble on the grass. : )
