1-800-how's-my-tanking?
Jul. 13th, 2012 05:15 amDear self:
Stop shaking, please. I know you still cringe when you remember that first tanking attempt, back at 75, with hand crafted Soopar Speshul blues and whatever else your blacksmith and jewelcrafter could whip up... where you didn't even last past the first two rooms in Utgarde Keep, totally unable to keep aggro up despite all your guildmaster's coaching and time at the target dummies. Between the GOGOGOitis and the folks ignoring your warning that you were new, the biggest surprise of that fiasco was that you had time to apologize and drop before you were kicked.
Things have changed. You're solidly capped at 80, gussied up in Cata quest greens and blues, and all that time spent archaeology-ing down in Uldum for the @#$%^ Vial of Sands recipe means you've gotten used to the rotation of suddenly beating off ALL THE THINGS with a stick and what to do when the situation get a little... rough.
And ok, so no one said anything other than the healer telling you to swap out of Crusader Aura (....certainly not the end of the world, and it's not like it's aspect of the pack and boy weren't THOSE fun times when that happened?), and you forgot to strafe, and you DID deliberately pick normal Violet Hold which you know pretty damn well - girl, that's being smart and having buffer. You even remembered to try to mobile tank the ethereal boss... even if he didn't want to move from where he was. :-/ At least you tried! So it wasn't a spectacular run, but dang it, you tried. And the team won, no one died, you did your job right even if it wasn't spectacular!
On the plus side, the adrenaline crash is good for the insomnia, too. So take the learning opportunity, appreciate it dammit instead of trying to nitpick all the downsides, and go to bed.
much frustration and reluctant appreciation,
Self
