Potpourri

So... yeah. Life is... well, life.

Downs

* On November 1, early in the morning, Gram passed on. She was 92 years old, had visited 6 of the 7 continents, and raised 3 kids, and had recently seen her 3 grandchildren. The advice she really tried to make sure I got was to travel. Take any advantage to travel when one can. I thus pass it on to you, in memory of a Great Dame. I will always remember her being in her 80s, and going on a hiking trip to Peru, and being somewhat cranky that her recently banged up hip wasn't cooperating. I know she was in pain, and that things were hard. It's just... still not easy. I hope it doesn't hurt anymore.

* Cast the die for real yesterday. I need to do this. No, not going into what; that's for eventual entries but not now. I made a tentative roll on Tuesday, but it turns out that sometimes, a compliment is just a compliment.

Ups

* My nametag now says "General Manager" rather than "Administration Manager".

* The Argent Tournament isn't so bad once you represent a city, and then boy howdy do the dailies go mad. Methinks alt-itis will help too, once I get into that. C'mon, Norcumi, let's get Hepzibet or JC up there! Then maybe Pru or Sanji! You can do this!

Weird

* A customer keeps recommending I read a book called Geek Love. I'm posting this so as to make sure I have the title and no longer have to write it down on little scraps of register tape. EDIT: ..... after reading the Amazon summary of it... I think I can offer a resounding WTF.

* I'm currently re-reading The Wiz Biz, which is about a computer programmer who makes a language which works as magic. I think I recommend it for the geeky types out there, but it may be a case of cuter and funnier for the clueless out there.

* In the never-ending quest to find a radio station that doesn't play just 5 or a dozen songs on a loop, we have struck Stalker Gold. Seriously. Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me is kinda scary (as a song - haven't watched the video). But today the crazy hit, and I started scaring the co-workers with my giggling at the thought of Crazy!Demona being the Taylor character in a video, with the bitchin' being about Elisa. No, it does not in any way make sense, which is WHY I found it so funny. I still find it funny enough to share. So there. #

I think that's all for now.

#Please note: while I might have benefited from having music/music videos like this in my high school days, I have since come to the conclusion that young Ms. Swift is a stalker in training, if not something rather higher leveled, as EVERY song I have ever heard from her on the radio is in this vein. Eep.
